4th October 2023-
The Stoic Foundation is excited to share our recent participation in the 1st inaugural Hong Kong Chapter of the Global Conference on Sustainable Development, held on the 4th of October, 2023. A member of our team, Anthony Huang, had the privilege of attending this important event and engaging with key figures in the sustainable development space.
The conference kicked off with an inspiring opening speech delivered by Mr Ban Ki-moon, the former United Nations Secretary General, and Co‐Chair of the Ban Ki‐moon Centre for Global Citizens. Mr. Ban Ki-moon emphasised the importance of working together towards a sustainable future, and the need to act with urgency in addressing global challenges such as climate change.
During the conference, Anthony Huang also had the opportunity to catch up with The Hon Tse Chin-wan, GBS, JP, who is the Secretary for the Environment and Ecology for the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. This meeting provided a platform to discuss the latest developments and initiatives in sustainable development within Hong Kong and the wider region.
One of the highlights of the conference was a speech delivered by Professor Jeffery Sachs, the President of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network. He spoke passionately about the need to stop thinking in tribal terms and to act with a global mindset when it comes to sustainable development. His words resonated with the audience, and reaffirmed the importance of international cooperation in addressing global challenges.
The 1st inaugural Global Conference on Sustainable Development in Hong Kong was a great success, bringing together leaders, experts, and stakeholders from across the region to discuss and explore solutions for a more sustainable future. The Stoic Foundation is honored to have been a part of this event, and we look forward to continuing our work in the sustainable development space, both in Hong Kong and beyond.
